Burnley, Padiham & Brierfield Political Summer School 2026
Are you aged 16–19 and interested in gaining direct experience in politics, law, media, or making change in your community?
This summer, we’re offering a free, week-long Politics Summer School for young people who live in the constituency and want to understand how decisions are really made locally and nationally.
Over the course of a week, participants will:
- Learn how Parliament, councils, and political campaigns work
- Get behind-the-scenes insight into an MP’s office
- Meet people working in politics, media and public affairs
- Take part in debates, group projects, and hands on work
- Visit London and see Parliament in action (With thanks to Avanti West Coast for sponsoring)
- Build confidence, skills, and networks for the future
This programme is open to young people from all backgrounds – no prior experience or political involvement required. There is no requirement to be a member of any particular political party.
Who can apply?
- Aged 16–19
- School leavers or college students
- Must live in the constituency
- Curious, engaged, and willing to participate fully

- Cohort 2: w/c 13 July
